Is there an age limit for working in Japan?
Legally, there is no specific age limit for working in Japan. However, depending on the hiring requirements of each company, there may be preferred age ranges.
In many cases, applicants between approximately 18 and 40 years old are commonly accepted.
How long can technical intern trainees work in Japan?
Under the Technical Intern Training Program, trainees can work in Japan for up to 3 years under Technical Intern Training (i) and (ii). If they transition to Technical Intern Training (iii), the total working period can be extended to a maximum of 5 years.
After passing the job interview, how long until I can enter Japan?
After passing the interview, interns must complete a basic Japanese language training course for 4–6 months before departure.
What should I do if I have an accident or injury while working?
If an accident or injury occurs during work, the Japanese workers’ compensation insurance system (workers’ accident compensation insurance) will apply. Medical expenses are usually covered by the insurance, and the accepting company, supervising organization, or support staff will assist with necessary procedures and medical arrangements.
Can I receive the pension contributions I paid during my technical intern period after returning home?
If you have paid Employee Pension or National Pension for more than 6 months but do not meet the conditions for receiving a pension upon returning to your country, you can request a lump-sum withdrawal.
